One of the core principles that I take when helping any individual is to ensure they are looked at as a WHOLE person - body, mind, and spirit. All three of these variables are directly influencing their current state of health and their current access to Vitality.
Health is defined as the absence of sickness or disease and Vitality is defined as the capacity to live a life of exuberant physical strength and mental vigor in order to live a meaningful and purposeful existence. My goal with myself and my clients is to move a little closer to optimizing Vitality each and every day.

All fitness and Physical Rehabilitation models were designed based on cadaveric anatomy. This means that each muscle, of a human corpse, was isolated and studied to determine its specific function and then ways to rehabilitate and train the body were created.
This turned into
* Bicep & Hamstring Curls
* Bridges & Crunches
* Dead Bugs & Planks
Problem is, NONE of these muscles were designed to work this way and doing these types of isolated exercises over and over will eventually lead to injury. It's not a matter of if, it is simply a matter of when.
Training muscles in isolation would be analogous to isolating every musician in an orchestra to play as loud as possible, then expecting those musicians to then play a symphony together.
This leads to a TON of noise with an orchestra and for the body it eventually leads to injury and PAIN.
Now that you have pain, you go to the doctor and they take an x-ray and determine if its not bad enough to operate so you get some anti-inflammatories and a script for physical therapy.
You go to the physical therapist and the same cadaveric anatomy paradigm is applied. Certain muscles are identified as weak and tight and the weak muscles are strengthened and the tight muscles are stretched.
Although this can temporarily relieve some pain, it does not address the cause and isn't a long term solution.
Eventually it starts to hurt again, you go back to the doctor, for more anti-inflammatories and maybe your first cortisone shot. This first shot is magical, no pain! Eventually it wears off in a few months, go back for a second one, and it only helps for a week!
Frustration is now at its max. so you go back to the doctor, and because you have been masking the symptom and not SOLVING the problem, it is bad enough that now you are a candidate for surgery!
The POWER3D Methodology address the ROOT CAUSE by using a completely different way of looking at the body. Instead of looking at you like a walking cadaver, you are observed through the lens of Chain Reaction Biomechanics. Chain Reaction was created by the Gray Institute and is the understanding of how the body moves on all three planes of motion as a inter-connected whole, rather than as isolated pieces.
Furthermore, sfter applying the study of Chain Reaction Biomechanics to thousands of individuals over the last two decades, I have found that over 95% of all musculoskeletal injuries are caused by an inefficiency in at least one of the Power Regions.
The Power Regions consist of the foot/ankle, hips, thoracic spine, and scapula-thoracic joint. Think of these areas as the MAJOR engines of the body - designed to produce the most horsepower. Other joints like the knees, low back, shoulder joint, elbows, and wrists are more of the complimentary engines.
When the Power Regions are not doing their job, the small engines of the body become strained and start to "burn out". Treating the small engines when the bigger horsepower engines are not working, will NEVER solve the problem and eventually lead to breakdown.
POWER3D Methodlogy focuses on accessing, maintaining, and integrating the horsepower of the Power Regions to rehabilitate current injuries, prevent future injuries, and increase performance - ALL IN ONE APPROACH!
Before coming in for your comprehensive Bio-Mechanical Movement Evaluation, you will be asked to complete a Health History form with a Vitality Questionnaire.
This will be reviewed before you come in and will be discussed with you during your first session. Specific goals are also identified during this first appointment.
After discussing your Health History and identifying your goals, you will then be taken through a Biomechanical Movement Assessment. This assessment will be customized on your current condition, goals, and history.
Each assessment is catered to each individual and what they specifically need and are presenting with.
Not all back pain is caused by the same thing - specificity is imperative to quick and effective results.
Once the Movement Assessment is complete, your program is then designed.
Based on your Movement Assessment, certain soft tissues and joints may have been identified as mechanically stuck. This means the soft tissues are not able to lengthen properly and therefore very specific intervention is necessary.
This is where Soft Tissue Remodeling and Sniper Stretching is used.
Once the Soft Tissue Remodeling and Sniper Stretching is completed, then you move onto the re-education of this new movement into the body's natural movement patterns.
This involves training specific joint and integrated movements patterns to ensure that the new range of motion created is there for the long term.
Now that there is a re-education of the new movement patterns, it must be conditioned to build strength and endurance.
This is another way to ensure the results acquired in the first two phases are sustained over longer periods of time.
The enhancement phase is customized to each individuals ultimate goal. The needs of individuals that are just looking to be able to walk without pain vs. individuals that want to play competitive sports are very different and are accounted for in the enhancement phase.
My ultimate goal with all of my clients is to ensure they do not become dependent on me and my treatments to live pain free. The goal is to create individuals that are able to sustain their results on their own by providing them with as many tools as possible and give them the resources to continue to get stronger.
